If the officer does respond, then the Court will review the paperwork. If the Court finds you guilty, you still have the ability to request an in-person court trial for your ticket. If the officer does not appear, the Court will dismiss your ticket. If the officer does appear, you are still able to present your entire case. In certain courthouses, you may be required to post the face amount of your ticket at the time you file the Trial by Declaration paperwork. If you win, the Court returns your money.
